Jonathan has been practicing law since his admittance in 1992. Jonathan is what everyone who wants a divorce is looking for–the perfect hybrid of a Pit Bull and a teddy bear. With over 22 years of family law and mental health expertise, Jonathan is a trial lawyer who has been especially successful in: complex divorces with child custody disputes, high asset cases, father's rights, post decree modifications, and mental health issues.
Jonathan is an out-of-the-box thinker with the philosophy of, “We can do this the easy way, or we can do this the hard way.” He is ready for either. While Jonathan prefers to find a middle ground that works best for everyone, he has little tolerance for the games and mudslinging that is typical in divorce situations.
Jonathan has proven that he is able to dominate the most complex cases with superior knowledge of law and procedure. His reputation and skill have earned him the title of Superlawyer in 2015. Jonathan and his staff were recently featured in Chicago Magazine. Jonathan was also formerly featured in Vogue Magazine.
Jonathan is considered one of the few lawyers in Illinois with a concentration in mental health law. Jonathan and his Mother, Attorney Sandra Nye, were partnered until last year, when Sandra retired from the practice of law. Both Jonathan and Sandra have consulted for the US State Department with regard to the US position on certain treaties and conventions. Sandra actually traveled to the Hague and United Nations and participated in the process. Jonathan is often called upon by Judges, attorneys, agencies, associates, and clients for advice, and is a guest speaker at events, throughout the year, on these subjects.
Jonathan is an extremely proud Father to two grown children. In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys boating on Lake Michigan.
